The Return of Jojo Diaz: Facing off against Jesus Perez

Former world champion, Joseph “JoJo” Diaz (33-4-1, 15KOs) will make his return to the ring when he meets Jesus ” Ricky” Perez (24-5, 18KOs) in the ring in a 10-round bout taking place at 140 lbs. The fight will be presented live via DAZN as the first “Golden Boy Fight Night” card of 2024 with the broadcast beginning at 6PM PT/ 9PM EST at The Commerce Casino & Hotel in California.

JoJo Diaz was quoted saying ” I am excited to let the boxing world know I’m back on track, my comeback continues on February 15. After this, I want all the top guys.” Diaz has fought in the Olympics, defeated undefeated fighters and was once crowned world champion. Diaz now has a chance to move back into position for title contention. A lot of fighters who fall from grace, don’t always get a second chance to climb back up. Diaz knows what’s at stake and De La Hoya was quoted stating, in reference to Diaz ” I see a renewed focus in his eyes as he takes one more run at championship glory.” Diaz has notable wins against Javier Fortuna and Tevin Farmer. Diaz is a tough and rugged southpaw who works hard and will be bringing war.

Perez was quoted stating that ““I know how important this fight is for me, a win over JoJo Diaz would open many great opportunities. I am working extremely hard to put on a great performance. One thing for sure, the fans are going to get their money’s worth. It is going to be a war!” Perez will definitely be bringing his “A” game, knowing a win will bring his stock way up.

In the co-main event, Ricardo “El Niño” Sandoval (23-2, 16 KOs) of Rialto, who was recently ranked number 10 on ESPN’s Top 25 under 25 list, will participate in a 10-round flyweight bout against Jayson Mama (19-1)

Also on the DAZN broadcast, Fort Lauderdale, Florida’s Eric Tudor (9-1, 6 KOs) will make a redemptive return in a six-round super welterweight fight against Luis Caraballo Ramos (6-2-1). Opening the DAZN broadcast, San Diego’s Jorge “El Niño Dorado” Chavez (9-0, 7 KOs) will participate in a six-round super bantamweight fight against Diuhl Olguin (16-34-7, 10KOs) .
