Mexican star Issac “Pitbull” Cruz will be putting his interim WBC Super Lightweight against Puerto Rican contender Nestor Bravo with one of boxing’s greatest and longest rivalries: Mexico vs Puerto Rico. This main event will be presented live on DAZN via Premier Boxing Champions on Saturday, September 19th at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California.
Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz (28-3-2, 18KOs) is a rough and rugged fighter who has given Tank Davis one of his toughest fights to date. This fight will be the debut of Cruz fighting under the tutelage of world renowned, legendary coach Eddy Reynoso, the same coach who has been in Canelo’s corner, guiding the Mexican superstar through his storied career and milestones. With Reynoso in his corner, Pitbull’s rugged and tough pressure fighting style may level up and become more polished. A more tactical, relentless, Mexican slugging style make Pitbull a very dangerous man. The man who gave Tank trouble, leveling up could make him unstoppable in the division. Cruz is coming off a majority draw against Lamont Roach Jr. where he was out-boxed in the second half, Reynoso could give Pitbull the edge becoming more well-rounded. Pitbull will definitely be more than a handful for Bravo. Pitbull is highly favored in this fight and is expected to break down the Puerto Rican contender and force a late-round stoppage or at least a clear unanimous decision.
Nestor Bravo (24-1, 17KOs) boasts a 5-inch height advantage and a 6.5-inch reach advantage over Pitbull. If Bravo can learn from the Roach fight and not get pulled into a gunfight with Pitbull, keeping him on the outside and outboxing him he may have the blueprint to a victory. This is if Reynoso wasn’t able to strengthen those weaknesses that led to that controversial majority draw. Bravo will also have to stay unpredictable with his stance shifting style, confusing Pitbull and not allowing patterns to be exploited on the inside. Bravo must really make this a defensively conscious chess match.
Make sure to tune in come fight night and do not miss out on this action-packed matchup! Sparks will definitely fly and this is a must-see fight!
