Former world champion David Benavidez (24-0, 21KOs) will be facing off with tough and rugged Jose Uzcategui (31-4, 26KOs) in a super middleweight title eliminator at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona. The fight will be presented live on Showtime via Premier Boxing Champions. The main card will begin at 10PM ET/ 7PM PT.

David Benavidez is undefeated in his campaign and held the WBC title which he lost on the scale. With fast hands, high punch volume and aggressive pressure we can see how 21 of his 24 wins come by way of knockout. Benavidez keeps moving forward and chips away, overwhelming his opponent until the light switch goes out. Benavidez wants to be champion again and will be gunning for Uzcategui. He is looking to win in big fashion especially since he will be fighting in his hometown of Phoenix for the first time since 2015. Benavidez knows Uzcategui, a fellow former champion is a tough fighter who also comes forward and brings heat come fight night, but Benavidez is confident he is the stronger, faster better fighter. Benavidez also knows a win puts him in line for a possible clash with the winner of Canelo and Plant.

Uzcategui is no slouch. Similarly, Uzcategui is a come-forward, volume puncher. Benavidez will have to deal with pressure similar to what he brings to his opponents. Uzcategui is strong and has a warrior mentality. Come fight night this will be an ALL OUT WAR. The chances of this fight going the distance are slim to none with both men most likely bringing heat and turning it into a fight “in a phone booth”. Neither fighter will look to backup. Uzcategui, being a former champ as well wants to have that belt around his waist once again and Benavidez in blocking his path to that reality. Tune in on fight night because this fight has fight of the year potential!
