Foster vs Nova: Bringing Heat to NY in February

O’Shaquie “Ice Water” Foster (21-2, 12KOs) will defend his title for the second time when he goes against Abraham “Super” Nova (23-1, 16KOs) at the Theater at Madison Square Garden on February 16th. The fight will be presented live via Top Rank on ESPN.

Foster is the current WBC World Super Featherweight champion who fought about three months ago back in October with a come-from-behind knockout victory against Rocky Hernandez. Foster also has a notable win against the then 36-0 Rey Vargas, handing him his first and only defeat. The Texas native looks to extinguish the bright light shown by “SuperNova” stunting the “stars” shooting trajectory. Foster stated in an interview : “It’s always been my dream to fight at Madison Square Garden, and what better promoter to make this all happen than Top Rank? As a kid, watching all the greats fight at MSG inspired me to want to be a part of the history that comes with fighting at such a legendary place. I’m ready to put on a show and keep proving that I’m the best fighter in the world.”

Nova’s only loss came at the hands of Robeisy Ramirez back in June of 2022. Since then Nova moved up from 126 to 130 and has bounced back outclassing rugged veteran Adam Lopez as well and demolishing Jonathan Romero. Nova is gaining traction and confidence back to make for an entertaining battle with Foster. Nova stated in an interview ““My team and I have earned this opportunity to bring a world title back home. “You know what I bring, and you know what I’m about. No fear, no doubt.”

Also on the card we have Puerto Rican hot prospect, junior middleweight Xander Zayas who will be taking on former world champion Patrick Teixera. This will a big step up for the prospect Zayas who improves after every fight and never ceases to amaze the crowd. Tune in on ESPN/ESPN+ on February 16th or head over to MSG and be a part of the action!
