Fundora vs Mendoza: Interim WBC Super Welterweight Showdown!

Interim WBC super welterweight champion Sebastian Fundora (20-0-1,13KOs) will headline in a showtime tripleheader in Carson, California when he goes up against Brian Mendoza (21-2, 15KOs). The fight is presented live on Showtime via PBC. The winner of the match will be in line to fight Jermell Charlo in the near future.

Fundora is an anomaly, an outlier. The man they call “Towering Inferno” or as I like to call him a pugilistic paradox. Fundora a 6’7 is the tallest super middleweight to ever lace up a pair of gloves. Not only does he tower over his competition, but he is also a tall fighter who can bang on the inside. A truly rare and unique type of fighter who is also a southpaw. Fundora is a tough fighter to train for with all the aforementioned qualities. With notable wins against Sergio Garcia who came into the fight with an undefeated record of 33-0, Carlos Ocampo also tasted defeat at the hands of Fundora. Jorge Cota and Erickson Lubin also were handed losses via stoppage by Fundora who will be coming into his fight with Mendoza as the favorite.

Mendoza is a tough, rugged and durable slugger and will make it a tough fight Fundora as well. This will be a tough fight for both fighters. Mendoza defeated former unified WBA (super) and IBF light middleweight champion Jeison Rosario. Mendoza is hungry and embraces being the underdog. Both fighters will be leaving it all in the ring. This fight will bring fireworks and punches in bunches. War is what will we see on April 8th.

Also, on the card we have super lightweight prospect Brandun Lee (27-0) 23KOs) as he goes up against Pedro Campa in the co-feature. Campa was on an eight-fight winning streak until he was handed a loss via knockout by Teofimo Lopez. These fighters will be going to war as well. The opening bout will have unbeaten featherweights, Luis Nunez (18-0, 13KOs) and Christian Olivo (20-0-1, 7KOs).

Tune in on April 8th as these warriors prepare for war and watch them battle it out on this stacked PBC card presented on Showtime!
