Undefeated former two-time WBC Super Middleweight Champion David ” El Bandera Roja” Benavidez (26-0, 23KOs) will face off against former IBF Super Middleweight Champion Caleb “Sweet Hands” Plant (22-1-0, 13KOs) when they meet at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV on Saturday March 25th, 2023 via live on Showtime PPV with the main card starting at 9PM ET/ 6PM PT.

There has been a lot of bad blood between these two fighters with David’s brother Jose Benavidez and Caleb Plant getting into a scuffle in the gym. Even at the press conferences you can feel the tension between these two elite fighters as they when back and forth exchanging disses and derogatory names at each other has if they were combinations throw at the sound of the bell.

Benevidez is definitely a tough fighter with blistering hand speed along side creative combinations. Benevidez can take a punch has much as he can give one touting an 88.5% KO ratio as opposed to Plant’s 57% KO ration. We see that the power advantage goes to Benevidez. Plant is only an inch shorter at 6’1 and has half an inch shorter reach than Benevidez, so in size and reach they are somewhat similar. Beneavidez has notable stoppages against Denis Douglin, Rogelio Medina Luna, J’Leon Love, Anthony Dirrell, Roamer Alexis Angulo, Ronald Ellis, Kyrone Davis and David Lemieux. Benevidez can fight on the outside but likes to put pressure and bring the fight in close quarters. Benevidez will need to stick to his gameplan of applying pressure and moving forward, picking away at plant until he has him in his sights and puts him out.

Plant moves well and can be a slick fighter hence the name “sweet hands”. Plant has notable wins against Jose Uzcategui, Mike Lee, Rogelio Medina Luna, and in his last outing he scored a knockout victory against Anthony Dirrell in the ninth round. Plant also has shared the ring with Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez but fell short when Canelo stopped Plant via TKO as Plant was dropped twice in the 11th round. Plant will need to stay at a distance and not try to sit and bang with Benevidez. Plant will need to use his footwork as well as breaking up Benevidez’s Rhythm to be victorious.

Tune in on Showtime PPV or head down to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and don’t miss out on the Bad Blood that will spill into the ring as these two elite fighters brawl it out come fight night!
