Prograis vs Duarte: Crossroads Fight, Do or Die!

Regis Prograis (29-3, 24KOs) is in a crossroads fight against Oscar “La Migraña” Duarte (28-2-1, 22KOs) in a 12-round super lightweight bout. The fight will take place on February 15th at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California and is presented in association with Cancun Boxing and will be broadcasted around the globe via DAZN.

Duarte will be looking to use Prograis as a steppingstone. A win over a former two-time super lightweight champion like Regis Prograis would raise Duarte’s stock quick. Duarte was quoted, saying “I feel very happy and motivated with this great opportunity to face a former two-time world champion boxer,” Duarte said. “Facing Regis Prograis means a lot to me because he is an established, high-level fighter, and if I can win this fight, it would represent a very important step in my career. I know the fight will not be easy. Prograis is a complicated fighter; he hits hard, has not been knocked out, and also wants to return to victory after his last two defeats.” Duarte is a tough contender; he is not afraid to stalk and engage. Duarte’s first blemish was against Adrian Estrella in 2019. After facing this loss, Duarte followed up with 11 straight knockout victories to make a statement. The second blemish on Duarte’s resume was against the crafty KO artist, Ryan Garcia back in 2023. Duarte’s last win was a hell of a performance has he picked apart the tough and rugged Botirzhon Akhmedov.

Prograis will have his hands full come fight night; after losing his last two fights he has a lot at stake and Duarte will be gunning for him. That doesn’t mean that Prograis is fully out. Prograis has an amateur record of 87-7 and has held the WBA super lightweight title as well as the WBC super lightweight title. Prograis knows what on the line and will be looking to leave it all on the line since a loss could mean possible Retirment next.
