Guillermo Rigondeaux (20-1, 13KOs), WBA “regular” bantamweight champion will take on the WBO bantamweight champion John Riel Casimero (30-4, 21KOs). This bantamweight showdown will take place on August 14th at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California The fight will stream live on showtime via PBC Boxing on Saturday August 14th and will begin at 10PM ET/ 7PM PT.

Rigondeaux was a highly seasoned, highly decorated amateur fighter. Guillermo Rigondeaux has amassed an amateur record of 374-12, he was a seven-time national champion in Cuba and has won Olympic gold medals in 2000 and 2004. Rigondeaux is a slick Cuban southpaw, a technician with great defense whose only loss came at the hands of the amazing Vasyl Lomachenko. Rigo has notable wins against “The Filipino Flash” Nonito Donaire, Joseph Agbeko and Liborio Solis. Rigo will look to use his technical skills to outbox Casimero while working his awesome defense to take little to no damage.

WBO Bantamweight champion John Riel Casimero has the age advantage coming into this fight being 8 years younger at 32 to Rigo’s 40. Casimero is a three-weight division world champion, who loves fighting southpaws and looks to pressure the slick southpaw Rigo forcing him to slug it out. Rigo will have to make sure his defense is tight the whole night. Of Casimero’s 30 wins, 21 come by way of KO, so the power is there. Also fighting on the card we have the brother of Gary Russell Jr, Antonio Russell (18-0, 12KOs) who faces off against Emmanuel Rodriguez (19-2, 12KOs) in a bantamweight showdown. The opening bout will pit former world bantamweight title holder Rau’shee Warren (18-3, 4KOs) against Damian Vazquez(16-2-1, 8KOs) in a 10 round bout. .

Will age be a factor? Will the older Rigo be overpowered by the younger slugger in Casimero? Or will Rigo’s technical skillset and experience be too much for the younger champion? Tune in on August 14 and find out!
