Puerto Rican veteran Gabriel Rosado (26-16-1,15KOs) will face off against Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (44-1, 30KOs) and stated that their fight will be “legendary” especially with the Puerto Rican and Mexican rivalry we see has a common motif in boxing. The 12 round, light heavyweight battle will take place at The Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California and is presented live via DAZN with the main card starting at 8PM/ET.

This will be the first fight at light heavyweight for 37 year old Gabe Rosado who stated that this is closer to his walk around weight and he won’t feel weak due to major weight cuts like in his previous fights. Rosado believes he has a renewed vigour and his trainer Freddie Roach is excited that Rosado is “giving him the same drive and hunger he had”. Rosado is a tough and rugged fighter who never backs down, bloody or not. Rosado has shared the ring with the likes of Alfredo Angulo, Jesus Soto Karass, Gennadiy Golovkin, J’Leon Love, Peter Quillin, Jermell Charlo, David Lemieux, Joshua Clottey, Willie Monroe Jr., Daniel Jacobs and Jaime Munguia. In his fight with the middleweight boogey Gennadiy Golovkin he was bloody and bruised up yet was never knocked down. He lost that fight when his corner threw in the towel. That should show you how tough and rugged Rosado is.

Zurdo is technically the less experienced fighter of the two, although having two more fights. Rosado has fought 340 rounds opposed to Zurdo’s 267 rounds. Zurdo has stopped 4 of his last 5 opponents and has a slightly higher KO percentage (68%) to Rosado’s (58%). Zurdo is 6 years younger, 2 inches taller and has a 3 inch reach advantage. Zurdo’s only loss comes at the hands of Dmitry Bivol on November 5th 2022 via unanimous decision in their WBA Super World Light Heavyweight bout. Zurdo has notable stoppage wins against Dominic Boesel, Yunieski Gonzalez, Sullivan Barrera and Alfonso Lopez.

Zurdo and Rosado both known each other for years and have sparred on many occasions. Rosado sparred with Zurdo a lot during his training camp for his fight with Bektemir Melikziev. Zurdo helped prepare Rosado due to Beck being so powerful and strong yet he was able to take a lot of those shots because of the sparring with Zurdo.Rosado is well aware of Zurdo’s abilities and is not sleeping on him. Rosado sees this fight has being a high level chess match and both these warriors know each other well. This makes for a great fight!

Tune in come fight night on DAZN or head over to The Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, CA and don’t miss out on the rivalry as the sparks fly between these great warriors!
