Fundora vs Booker: Will the Towering Inferno Stand Tall or Fall?

On March 22nd, Sebastian Fundora will be his WBC and WBO super welterweight titles on the line when he faces off against Chordale Booker at the Michelob Ultra Arena at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas live on Prime Video via PBC.
27-year-old, southpaw, Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora (21-1-1, 13KOs) will be making his first defense of his title since taking them from Tim Tszyu just 8 days shy of a year, in a blood filled war that ended in a split decision. Fundora suffered a badly broken nose in his bout against Tszyu. Fundora was a late replacement, coming off a knockout loss against Brian Mendoza. The cards were stacked against Fundora coming into the fight. This will be the second time Fundora will be fighting on Prime Video for PBC. Fundora is definitely an anomaly, being 6’5 at 154 lbs and opts to brawl on the inside a lot instead of use he reach and stay at a distance, he truly lives up to the name “Towering Inferno”. Fundora a tough fighter to deal with being so tall for the division and with good inside game, Booker will need to be perfect since he can be kept on the outside with a LONG jab or hammered on the inside with uppercuts and hooks. Fundora was quoted, saying “I’m preparing really hard to defend my unified WBC and WBO world titles on March 22 in Las Vegas,” Fundora said. “Everyone can expect to see me prepared and ready to leave it all in the ring like I always do. ‘The Towering Inferno’ is back, and I’m coming to take out everyone in my way.”
Booker (23-1, 11KOs), a 33-year-old southpaw from Stamford, Connecticut has taken out 6 fighters in a row since suffering a KO loss to Austin “Ammo” Williams in April of 2022, which took place at middleweight which was above his more natural junior middleweight. Being 33 years old, and 15 years in the boxing game the clock is ticking for Booker this is a make-or-break fight. A win against Fundora catapults Booker into the realm near elite. Booker was quoted, saying “I’ve done everything I could to get here, and it’s a testament to what my foundation represents – going the distance,” Booker said. “I’ve gone the distance to make it to this fight. I’ve taken fights on short notice, fought for less and always kept pushing forward. Now, 15 years into my boxing journey, I’m stepping into the biggest fight of my life. This moment means everything and it’s proof that hard work and perseverance pays off.”
The card will also feature the return of Jesus Ramos Jr (22-1, 18KOs) who is coming off an eighth-round stoppage victory over Jeison Rosario. Ramos will be facing off against Kevin Salgado(17-2-1, 12KOs) in a 10 round bout at 154lbs. The final piece to this triple header will put 21-year-old Prospect, Elijah Garcia (16-1, 13KOs) against the veteran Terry Guasha (24-4-1, 12KOs) in a 10-round middleweight bout.
