Danny Garcia’s Farewell to Brooklyn!

Danny Garcia makes his return to the ring on Oct 18th to take on Daniel Gonzalez in a 10-round junior middleweight bout in what is being called “Farewell to Brooklyn” as the former two-division champion plans his exit route of the boxing game into retirement. The event will be presented live via Garcia’s very own Swift Promotions at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Garcia (37-4, 21KOs) was once a problem at the 140lb and 147lb divisions. Since 2020 the former champion has only fought four times in 2020. Garcia last fought last September when he lost to Erislandy Lara for the WBA middleweight championship. This will be Garcia’s 10th time fighting at the Barclays and his current record at this venue is 7-2. Danny Garcia has notable wins over Amir Khan, Zab Judah, Lucas Matthysse, Mauricio Herrera, Paulie Malignaggi, Lamont Peterson, Robert Guerrero, Brandon Rios, Jose Benavidez Jr and the great Erik Morales not once but twice.

Danny Garcia was quoted saying “There’s nothing like a big fight night at Barclays Center,” “I had to do this show for the fans and show them how much I’ve appreciated them this entire time. The best way to say goodbye is by fighting here one last time and giving them a tremendous night of boxing full of rising young talent. It’s gonna be the DSG show in Brooklyn once again on October 18!”

Gonzalez (22-4-1,7KOs) the man they call “El Gallo” knows what at risk, he will be coming in as an underdog. Gonzalez is coming of of back to back victories and has shared the ring with former world champion Chris Algieri. Gonzalez was quoted saying ““I’ve been grinding in silence, locked in that gym and waiting on my shot, Now it’s here. I’m stepping into the ring with a future Hall of Famer in Danny Garcia at Barclays Center. I ain’t coming to just show up, I’m coming to shock the world and prove how great I am. Life’s about timing, and on October 18, it’s ‘Gallo’ time.”
