Former welterweight champion and boogeyman Jaron “Boots” Ennis moved up in weight and will be making his debut at super welterweight when he takes on Uisma Lima in a WBA title eliminator on October 11th in his hometown of Philadelphia at Wells Fargo Center. The fight will be presented live on DAZN via Matchroom boxing.
Ennis (34-0,30KOs) is a slick switch hitting fighter with power, speed and a defensive prowess that is impeccable. Ennis is undefeated and only 4 of is 34 fights went the distance. The former welterweight was definitely a menace that many people didn’t want to fight since Ennis was seen as a high risk low reward kind of fighter. In his last outing Ennis forced Eimantas Stanionis to retire on his stool to claim the WBA welterweight crown. A win for Ennis will get him a second division championship belt as well as put him in line to unify for the WBA his next fight.
Lima (14-1, 10KOs) has already collected the IBO belt when he defeated Sukhdeep Singh Bhatti then followed that up with a title defense when he defeated Shervantaigh Koopman in South Africa. This will be Lima’s first fight on US soil and he will be fighting in Ennis’ hometown so the pressure will be on. Will Lima fold under pressure or rise to the occasion? A win for Lima would add some major stock to this lesser known fighter so there is definitely a lot to gain for Lima in this fight.
Tune in come fight night or head down to Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia and don’t miss out on the action!
