The man and anomaly known as “Towering Inferno” Sebastian Fundora, will be putting his WBC junior middleweight championship belt on the line when he faces off with Keith “One Time” Thurman. The fight will be presented live on Prime PPV via PBC with the venue of choice being the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.
Fundora (23-1-1, 15KOs) is the junior middleweight champion, a division where the average fighter height is about 5’10 but Fundora stands at a towering 6’6. Even with all his height Fundora loves to mix it up on the inside. Fundora has successfully defended his title against Tim Tszyu via a seventh-round knockout back in July. This fight was a rematch in which Thurman was supposed to fight Tszyu but having to pull out Fundora stepped in on short notice to replace Thurman. Their first outing Fundora beat Tszyu in a competitive close split decision. A name like Thurman on Fundora’s resume would really raise his stock.
Thurman (31-1, 23KOs) although being the “One-Time” welterweight king was a problem but after being riddled with health and injury problems put him out of commission he almost faded away from the sport, only fighting twice since beating legendary Manny Pacquiao back in 2019. Thurman held the welterweight crown with his reign lasting from 2016 to 2019 with notable wins against Robert Guerrero, Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter. This will be Thurman’s second fight at junior middleweight. Fundora replaced Thurman as champion when Thurman pulled out due to injury and now things have come full circle and Thurman will have a chance to taste championship glory once again! Thurman’s last outing he knocked out Brock Jarvis in the third round.
These two powerhouses love to fight and it will be nothing short of explosive WAR so tune in come fight night and don’t miss out on the action!
