The reigning WBA junior lightweight champion Lamont Roach Jr. will move up to 140 lbs to take on Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz for the interim WBC junior welterweight title on December 6th, as they headline a stacked card presented live via PBC PPV on Prime Video! The fight will be held at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.
Roach (25-11-2, 10KOs) was supposed to rematch Gervonta “Tank” Davis after a close and controversial majority draw back in March but the fight fell through when “Tank” was setting up to fight Jake Paul in an exhibition in November but that fight also fell through. Since Roach is looking to become an interim titleholder at 140lbs, making this his third consecutive fight competing in a different weight class. Many believed Roach did enough to dethrone “Tank” Davis so it makes sense if he doesn’t get that rematch, he should go after the other only fighter who gave “Tank” another one of his toughest fights, Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz.
Cruz (28-3-1, 18KOs) lost a narrow decision to Davis in December 2021. Since losing that fight, Cruz has gone 6-1, even snatching the vacant WBC junior welterweight title in his last bout when he bested Omar Salcido back in July. Cruz is a textbook style, sharp, tough and rugged Mexican fighter and will be bringing a tough fight to Roach’s front door!
Also on the card we have Erislandy Lara, the WBA middleweight World Champion looking to unify against the WBO and IBF Middleweight Champion Janibek Alimkhanuly in the co-main event. Stephen Fulton Jr. will take on O’Shaquie Foster for his WBC super featherweight title while Jesus Ramos takes on Shane Mosely Jr. for the interim WBC middleweight Title. Frank “The Ghost” Martin will face off against former two division champion Rances Barthelemy.
This is a stacked night of fights you do NOT want to miss out on so tune in or head down to Frost Bank Center to witness an action-packed night of fights!
