Rolly vs Teo: War at 147!

Rolando “Rolly” Romero (17-2, 13KOs) will defend his WBA welterweight title against Teofimo “Teo” Lopez (22-2, 13KOs) on August 22, 2026, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The fight is presented live via PBC and will be available on DAZN and Prime Video. This fight will pit Rolly’s awkward, unorthodox style with knockout power against Teo’s superior speed, technical skill and high ring IQ.

Teo will be moving up to welterweight in hopes of snatching a world title in a third weight class. Although in his last outing, which he was handed a decision loss by Shakur Stevenson in January he is still the technical favorite with notable elite wins over Vasyl Lomachenko and Josh Taylor. Many still don’t know how moving up to 147 will affect his punching power, stamina and skillset but come fight night we will find out.

Rolly won the WBA Championship via a major upset win over Ryan Garcia in May of 2025. Rolly carries dangerous power than can end a fight in the blink of an eye, pair that with his awkward and unorthodox style and he becomes a problem that is hard for fighters to train for. Still critics often question is overall skillset.

The question comes down to, will the sharp, counter-punching, superior footwork and technical prowess of Teo be enough to take on Rolly, or will the naturally bigger Rolly outpower the smaller man moving up to meet the champion?

Only time will tell come fight night, make sure to tune in and don’t miss out on the action!
